On Monday, July 9th we will be deconstructing the pride of Kansas City, Missouri by breaking down the constituent parts of J. Rieger & Co. Kansas City Whiskey with J. Rieger co-founder Ryan Maybee.
J. Rieger & Co. was the largest mail-order whiskey house in the United States prior to the onset of federal Prohibition in 1920 offering everything from whiskies and rums to a product simply called "alcohol." Resurrected in 2014 by a KC bartender (Ryan) and one of the last members of the original Rieger family, J. Rieger & Co. is officially Kansas City, Missouri's first distillery in nearly a century.
For this particular society, Ryan will be walking us through a tasting of all of the component parts of his KC Whiskey including a light corn whiskey, straight bourbon, straight rye, the blend without Oloroso Sherry, the Oloroso Sherry alone, and then of course, all of the above in the final product that is J. Rieger & Co. Kansas City Whiskey. This is an unprecedented opportunity to delve into the construction of a whiskey and literally taste why the final product tastes the way it does.
We can't wait to host Ryan and his team here in Austin and experience this inside look at what makes J. Rieger & Co. Kansas City Whiskey "O! So Good" and the pride of Cowtown.
As always we begin with a Welcome Punch ready for sipping before the event. Once you arrive, please check in with our bartenders to gain access to the Whiskey Society ($15 each). Although we are no longer offering annual memberships, if your annual membership is still in effect, please present your membership card or proof of card purchase to our bartenders so we can ensure your inclusion.
